First Corn on the Cob of the Season....and Ever!

Well the other day I could not resist buying some corn on the cob. Nothing says summer like it! Well it did not turn out to the best I had ever had, but we can only go up from here.
It was fun however to see Madi enjoy it for the first time ever.
She dug right in.
It did not take her long to get the hang of holding on with the holders and eating it.
And when that got hard to do, she decided the heck with it and just grabbed on.
Sometimes you have to do what you have got to do to get what you want.

Bret and Kacy will never pass up an ear either!

Wow Mom this is good!

Can you guess what I am eating?

Just hang on and go!!!

Who Doesn't Love Fawn-Doe-Rosa!!!!

About two weeks ago I suggested to a couple old roomies, Laurie and Katie that they should bring their girls to St Croix Falls and we should go visit Fawn Doe Rosa some Thursday this summer. Well I got an email back stating they could do it the same week or the following. Well I was quite surprised at their enthusiasm. Remember we are talking about the Mom's not the kids. Turns out both have always wanted to go since they were young but never have, so they jumped at the offer.

Fawn Doe Rosa is Wildlife Eduaction Center. The deer roam free, there is a barn yard with animals, ducks and geese all around. They have numerous wildlife in cages, they range from bears to skunks. The kids can walk around the park feeding the animals and watching them play. They also have pony rides......Kacy love to ride Skippy! This has been her pony since the first summer we went and she was less than two years old. We only go once a year, but she still thinks he is hers.

So last last Thursday 6 little girls, 3 moms and 1 big brother headed off to the park. The girls had such a great time. I am including their moms in that geraliztion as well. And Bret was a good sport. He always likes to feed the animals as well. He was also a big help pushing the strollers. After an animal filled morning we came back to our house for lunch and some more play before they were back on the road.

Are you talking to me?

Fawn Doe Rosa......there were quite a few babies around the park. We also pet some baby raccoons. The baby goat's were super cute too.

This guy was looking for the treats Kacy had.

Alyssa and Madi were feeding this buck...I really thought Madi would be a little more scared, but as you can see...she was not. She thought feeding them was the greatest.....though I sometimes caught her eating the corn instead. She is a good farm girl.

Here is the whole crew minus Laurie's 2 month old Kailey.

Alyssa, Ella, Madi, Kacy, Sophie & Bret in the back.

After visiting the animals it was time for a pony ride! Kacy was hoping to ride Skippy but he was not in the rotation, luckily Terri, a member of the family that runs the park, said that if Kacy wanted to ride Skippy she would get him out for her. She was a lucky girl that day.

I am so glad everyone had good time. It was fun to have the girls come up and enjoy something in our neck of the woods!

Wow, is it a hot one out there!

I guess this is one way to use a sprinkler!

Madi is helping brother get a little cool down!

Check out those abs!

What do you mean it's time to go in!

This weather has been so darn crazy, I finally gave in a turned the air conditioning on on Monday night. I was just so sticky humid.
The kids have been trying to stay cool by using the kiddie pool. It does help cut the heat, and the kids love it. Even Bret is willing to get in on a little pool action.

Enjoying Como Zoo

This was in the cool butterfly garden.
Madi and Kacy loved the flowers.

Kacy loves to ride the carousel......Madi not so much!

Glad to have their Dad for the day. It has been hard to see him when he works
from two to nineish.

Family picture..minus one.

What a perfect Saturday to enjoy the Zoo at Como Park. Mark suggested we get up early and go. Bret was unable to attend, he spent the weekend with his Grandpa and got to go to the races at Cedar Lake...something he quite enjoys. Mark said leave at 8......of course it was closer to 9. We hit the park shortly after 10 and about 80 degrees. The girls really loved the animals! It is such a nice park. Kacy did not enjoy heading into the dark buildings, but once we convinced her it was okay she joined in. We also timed it just right to see the Sparky show. He is fun little sea lion who loves to put on a show. We then headed to the Butterfly exhibit. This was a gorgeous flower garden were the butterflies roamed and you got to walk through. Kacy was in complete aw. She loves butterflies. We the road the carousel. Madi was not much up for it. She sat on the horse, but once it started to move she was off. We left about one. Both girls were sleeping before we hit 35W. They needed the nap, cause we spent the rest of the day at our neighbors on the otherside, the Lusk's for Tim Jr's grad party. What a busy day!

TuTu Pink

The first full week of June our sitter went to Florida and the girls spent the week at the farm. During this time I painted Kacy's new room. Bret moved down to his Wisconsin room in the basement this spring and since then I had been putting off getting Kacy's room done. It really was kind of nice to have a place to put all their toys and I finally had my living room back. Well as long as I was little girl free I figure it was the time to do it. We picked out a very tame shade of pink...or so we thought....and went to town. After the first coat I was pretty sure the Pink Panther had thrown up on the walls. Well after some white accents it does look nice. It is great for a little girlie girl, and she loves it. I am however ready to quit painting for a while. It always sounds like fun until the actual moment.
