We spent the holiday weekend down in Arkdale with my parents.
Everyone likes to go to the farm and visit the animals, ride the golf cart, relax ( at least I do, I am sure my Mom does not however), and Bret tootles around the farm on his Doodlebug, aka mini dirt bike. Adams county is always a fun place to be during the 4th. They always have a large parade, my parents have a family and friends picnic and then there is always fireworks some place. Well the parade provided our children with a ridiculous amount of candy, it was fun to see the floats and the children in the parade of old high school classmates. I cannot believe how fast they grow. We also had a nice time at the picnic relaxing and spending time with family and friends. We missed Grandma G this year, she is out gallivanting with Aunt Sandi in Colorado. Oh the life of a retiree......I hope she is really enjoying herself.
They actually look like they like each other....who knew.
It really bothered her if it was too far out in the road and had to be left.

I love this picture of the girls sitting in the drive at the end of the day playing in the sand. I think their outfits and the flag in the background really captures the day.

Kacy was waving her flag and scooping up candy as well.
She loves a parade. She would still however cover her ears when the fires trucks came by.
and what to leave for his little sisters!
The whole crew.......yes the firetrucks were going by!

I should have stopped.
Nana and her girls. Nana spent a good share of the parade scooping up candy too.

We finished up the day with fireworks. Last year the girls hated the noise so this year we were not sure if we should go or not. Mark and Bret bought some to shoot off, and the bar in Arkdale was lighting off some of their own so we figured what do we have to loose when we are so close to home. If they hated them we could always come back home. Well to our surprise they did just fine. Kacy would cover her ears and then Madi wanted hers covered as well, but they both hung. They loved the lights and colors that were provided. In fact both fell asleep in the middle of them.
I hope a;ll you had a great forth too.
